Jazzing up Christchurch Festivities

The Cavell Leitch New Zealand Jazz & Blues Festival launches on April 3rd and boogies on until the 7th. Get your toes tapping and hips swinging as we welcome an impressive line up of International, National and Local Jazz and Blues pros. The festival is in various locations including Hagley Park, and will be starring musicians such as American Music Legend, Bonnie Raitt, British Trio Kitty, Daisy & Lewis and Irish Chanteuse Mary Coughlan. The Press Jazz in the Dome series features a fantastic variety of jazz, rhythm and blues, swing, vocal and instrumental sounds. Below, wildly popular London based trio of siblings Kitty, Daisy and Lewis have once again sold out their performance. 

The Christchurch Pet Expo a Fun Family Activity For a wonderful tactile experience for the whole family you must get along to the country's most popular pet show. It is held on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of April at Pioneer Stadium and features almost any pet you can think of, dancing dogs, agility displays and an outdoor pet area. It's even been known to put on the odd pet fashion parade! The expo also features various pet organisations, charities and animal related products and services for all of you pet lovers out there. Some pet guardians are kind enough let you pat their friendly animals which really makes it a fabulous weekend out for the children.

An Event For the Fitness Freaks For those staying in Christchurch who have boundless amounts of energy, have you considered the off road duathlon Quickie on the Beach on Saturday the 6th of April? The Quickie on the Beach includes a 4 km run on the sand and a second 13km mountain bike stage using the challenging and scenic tracks in Bottle Lake Forest Park. Spot prizes are also offered by the event sponsor Icebreaker, so during your stay with us, squeeze in a bit of training and get down to the start/finish line at Broad Park in North New Brighton. Easter Eggstravaganza at Tothill's Maze Guilty of getting lost in your Easter celebrations?! Take the kids along for a mind boggling day out at Tothill's Maze in Hornby. Pop on out to their infamous corn Maze for the annual Easter Weekend 'Eggquisite Eggciting Eggstravaganza'! The maze is situated at 493 Shands Road, Hornby (on the corner of Marshs Road and Shands Road) and is open in most weather conditions - unless it is very wet and slippery. Each Easter they have an busy events weekend planned for you including their yearly weekend of fun - the Easter challenge. If you love Easter eggs and fancy your chances of winning heaps of prizes come along from Good Friday, to the Tuesday the 2nd of April. Their Corn Maze is sure to test your memory and mental skills, and if you love puzzles this is for you!

Bonnie Raitt is back for more! Bonnie Raitt is back and Performing in Christchurch Returning for her Slipstream Tour on Friday the 5th of April, Bonnie Rait and her band revisit Christchurch City. Bonnie is back in fashion, with Rolling Stone naming her one of the greatest 100 guitarists amongst a heavily male dominated list. The Slipstream album was also accredited as being one of the best music mixes of 2012 and it's now considered pretty hip to perform as an opener for her and her band. Considered a veteran singer-guitarist, Bonnie will rock our city with covers, timeless classics and of course include new songs from her latest album to keep all of her most dedicated fans happy.
