We’ve had a fantastic autumn and winter is finally here. There are a number of events worth venturing out for – check out our picks below.

Christchurch Airport Marathon, Sunday 5 June, $15-80

Christchurch Airport Marathon is back. Known as one of New Zealand’s premier running events and one of the fastest courses in the world. Whether you want to take on a full marathon, 10k or Kids’ Mara’Fun – it’s a good way to shake off the winter chills.

Hairspray – The Musical, 8 – 18 June, $47.50-$105

Big Musical. Big Comedy. Big Hair! The award-winning Broadway musical Hairspray is coming to Christchurch. This feel good, 1960s-style dance musical will get doing the boogie-woogie.

Christchurch Baby Expo, 11 – 12 June, Pioneer Stadium, $5

If you’re expecting a little one soon, the Christchurch Baby Expo is a place to discover all you need to know. Covering everything from safety products to fashion – the baby expo will be packed with a huge range of products and services. There will also be seminars, demos and workshops and a free onsite ‘creche’ service.

Blue Man Group, 21 June – 3 July, Isaac Theatre Royal, $91.50-$111.50

Experience the phenomenon. Blue Man Group is comedy, theatre, rock concert and dance party all rolled into one. Don’t miss the show that has captivated 35 million people worldwide. 

The Christchurch Art Show, 23 – 26 June, Wigram Air Force Museum, $7-10

This is Christchurch’s largest art show supporting a range of talented New Zealand artists. With art priced $50 to $5000, you’re bound to find a treasure to brighten up your walls at home.

A Mid-Winter’s Ale Festival, Saturday 25 June, Rolleston Community Centre, $20-$55

Showcasing Canterbury’s growing craft beer industry along with some of the rare and new International beer varieties – A Mid-Winter’s Ale Festival is likely to be a sell-out event again this year. Book now!

Winter Encraftment Market, Sunday 3 July, Lincoln Event Centre, Free

Held twice a year. Encraftment market is the place to shop for fresh, local handmade craft and design. They have outgrown their previous venue and there will be over 90 stalls, including delicious food and refreshments.

KidsFest, 9 – 23 of July, Winter School Holidays

KidsFest is an annual festival of events designed especially for children. Held over the winter school holidays, there will be hundreds of cool events and activities to keep the kids amused. Like KidsFest on Facebook to keep up with the latest updates and news.

BROODS, Thursday 14 July, Horncastle Arena, $61.40

BROODS is an indie pop duo from Nelson who have hit the big time. They have been wowing international crowds with their latest studio single Free. Conscious, their new album has been produced by Sam Smith and Ellie Goulding-collaborator Joel Little, along with a bunch of other talented folk, including a song co-written by Lorde.
