Frocks on Bikes
Culture Galore! This Saturday the 8th of March a Frocks on Bikes ride will begin from outside the Canterbury Museum on Rolleston Ave and head to Ray Blank Park in Ilam. Taking in some of the best sites in the city, the ride will head through Haley Park, along Matai Street and past Riccarton House on it's way to Ilam to enjoy some ethnic food and drink. Optional dress up but this is a fun opportunity to get into the spirit of Culture Galore and wear something Cultural or Ethnic such as flags, flowers or even a national costume.
The start of the Winter sport season has kicked off already and there's a couple of games on this month for the netball and rugby fanatics. Support the Canterbury Tactix with their two games this month, the New South Wales Swifts on the 9th of March and against the Melbourne Vixens on the 31st of March. The Crusaders have three games coming up this month so get out your red and black gears and support our Canterbury teams!
Tales@The Pallet Pavilion
Christchurch's only Story Festival, Tales @ The Pallet Pavilion has something for all ages. Storytelling, books, writing, poetry, creative movement and dance, music and crafts - this is the perfect celebration of expression. Enjoy a range of performances, workshops and displays. Running from March 14th until the 16th you've got several days to check out Christchurch's story talent.
If you're looking for something to do with the kids this month the Woolston Community Centre is holding the Woolston Gala complete with vertical bungy, bounce castles, stalls, food and much more. The gala will be held on the 22nd of March and it's free to go so put it in your calendars.
The annual City 2 Surf is happening on the 23rd of March. This is a fun event for everyone - young or old, novice or athlete! City 2 Surf is all about the participation - reaching your personal goals and having fun doing it! Sign up for the 6km or the 14km and walk, run or jog your way to the finish line. Entry is only $15 per person and under 5s are free so why not give it a go.
Coffee Culture Le Race
Support your favourite competitors at this national cycling event. One of the countries most distinctive and exciting races, the Le Race brings in competitors from around New Zealand at varying levels of ability. Beautiful scenery and a challenging course make for exciting viewing all the way through to the finish in Akaroa. This year the race falls on the 29th of March so get out there and support the cyclists!
The Great Kiwi Beer Festival
Back for 2014, the Great Kiwi Beer Festival has even more craft beers available than any other year so come along to this day long celebration of brewing in New Zealand. With live music from Dragon, Tahuna Breaks and more as well as food matching sessions and cooking demonstrations there is plenty to keep you entertained for the day. Running from 11.30 am to 7.00 pm on the 29th of March, this years beer festival is the perfect way to round off the summer.
