TranzAlpine - Day Trip

Rated one of the top 10 Train Journeys in the world, the TranzAlpine will take you on a spectacular day trip from east to scenic west coast, then returning to Christchurch.

Travel through the fields and farmland of the Canterbury Plains, climb into the snow-capped mountains of the Southern Alps and speed through 16 tunnels and over 5 viaducts—the highest standing at 73 metres above the ground!

Beginning in Christchurch resting in the West Coast town of Greymouth for lunch before returning back to Cristchurch. As a TranzAlpine passenger, you will be well looked after with comfortable seating, a café-bar, and an open-air viewing platform so you’ll be sure to get some great photos!

The TranzAlpine departs Christchurch daily at 8.15am, arriving in Greymouth at 12:45pm. Stop for lunch in Greymouth or visit jade Boulder Gallery – New Zealand’s premier jade gallery and studio. Begin your journey back to the east coast at 1.45pm, arriving in Christchurch at 6.05pm. Christchurch Top 10 Holiday Park is able arrange a shuttle from the Holiday Park to the train station.
