Glow Worm Caves – Te Anau

Discover the mystery of an underground world by embarking on a breathtaking adventure through the magnificent Glow Worm Caves.

Beginning with a relaxing cruise across Lake Te Anau, your senses are sure to be overwhelmed as you move underground, exploring the caves by path and small boat. You will have the opportunity to learn about the caves, fossils, and rock formations as you glide past rushing waterfalls and whirlpools into the company of thousands of tiny glow worms! This trip is suitable for all ages with the exception of infants but it is important to note that some bending is required at the caves entrance and there are some steps are involved.

The Glow Worms are a good option for an evening visit for those on a tight schedule. We suggest the Glow Worm Cave the evening you arrive in Te Anau and a cruise on Milford or Doubtful the following day. Glow Worm Cave trips depart from Te Anau at 2.00pm and 7.00pm all year. There are additional trips available at 5.45pm between October and April, and 8.15pm between November and March.
